Enjoy displays of South Dakota history - with an emphasis on Codington County in the museum which is located in the historic former Carnegie Library. The library is one of the best examples of Neo-classical architecture in Watertown. Make sure to visit the gift shop. Historic walking tour brochures are available free of charge. Tour Historic Uptown Watertown, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. No admission, donations accepted.

Fitness Trail
The asphalt trails and sidewalk links are marked with bright yellow bicycle signs. 19.6 miles of trail lead from town, through Bramble Park Zoo and the Jack & Esther McLaughlin Wildlife Sanctuary to Lake Kampeska, City Park, Jackson Park and the Municipal Golf Course.

 

Arthur Calvin Mellette houseMellette House

The private home of South Dakota's first governor, Mellette House was built by Arthur Calvin Mellette in the mid-1880's. Beautifully restored, the House displays original Mellette pieces and includes a museum housing both Mellette and early South Dakota memorabilia. Guided tours available May 1 - October 1, Tuesday - Sunday, 1 - 5 pm. No admission, donations accepted.

 

Midland Plaza Photo Art Gallery

Over 1,000 photographs grace the walls of the public areas of this building. The gallery is free and open to the public during regular business hours. The photographer, Les Jutting, is often in residence and will give tours.

The Redlin Art Center is a gift from world famous artist Terry Redlin to the state of South Dakota and Redlin's hometown of Watertown. Over 150 of Redlin's original oil paintings are featured within the three-story gallery. A 30-acre wildlife refuge with walking trails and gazebos and a Gift Shop can also be enjoyed. Admission is free.

The brand new center features a new bath house with concessions, family changing rooms and a three pool complex including: a main pool with zero depth entry, lap area, floatable, 3/4 meter diving board, drop slide, water walk, frog slide, in-water playground, four additional interactive play features. Float down the 550 foot Lazy River on a tube or speed down one of three slides. Young ones can enjoy the zero-depth entry Adventure Pool. Artist's rendition of the Veteran's MemorialVeterans Memorial
Located in Stokes-Thomas City Park on Lake Kampeska just off HWY 20, www.wtnvetsmemorial.org

17 sections of Black Mist granite currently hold 1120 names. The flags around the memorial represent the branches of the military and veterans organizations as well as the POW/MIA flag. A beautiful sculpture designed by Jim Buhler and constructed by Mr Buhler's Lake Area Technical Institute students compliments the memorial arrangement.
